The Good Soil Company is a social enterprise set up with the objective of helping people to become healthy and independent adults through land-based and ‘outdoor’ projects. To do this we operate three care farms that allow us to work with a range of client groups including:
students, excluded school pupils, the homeless, those recovering from substance misuse as well children, young people and families in care or supported accommodation.
Depending on the client group or commissioning organisations requirements The Good Soil Company provide either engagement activities or specific training in agricultural, horticultural and animal husbandry. Working ‘on the land’ is recognised to have immense personal and psychological benefits, and although many of our clients are from a city background the rural nature of the projects add value over and above therapeutic environments and other socially-based activities.
